Macallan 1926 Fine & Rare The Macallan 1926 Fine & Rare currently holds the title of the most expensive whiskey in the world. The single malt was distilled in 1926 and bottled in 1986 after 60 years of maturation. A complete of only 40 bottles were filled from the sherry hogshead cask with the number 263.Only 14 bottles of Macallan 1926 received the Fine & Rare label awarded by the distillery, which underlines the limitation of this whiskey. The bottle of Macallan 1926 Fine & Rare auctioned in 2019 was the first bottle of single malt to be auctioned in over a decade. At the auction, the rare brand achieved the record price of around 1,680,000 euros. Yamazaki 55 Years The very old Japanese single malt consists of whisky from just two oak barrels: a Mizunara Oak Cask from 1960 and a White Oak Cask from 1964. The single malt is limited to 100 bottles. The rare Yamazaki 55 year old first came onto the market in 2020 and was sold to Japanese connoisseurs for a price of around 25,000 euros. Shortly afterwards, a bottle of the rare Yamazaki 55 year old came under the hammer at Bonham’s. Around 670,000 euros - the highest price ever recorded for a Japanese whiskey was achieved. Dalmore Trinitas 64 Years The Dalmore Trinitas 64 Years Old was composed from barrels of the classics. The Dalmore distillery had three bottles of this rare and very old whiskey filled and appropriately named them after the Trinity - Latin: Trinitas. The last remaining bottle was sold in 2011 in the London store Harrods for 120,000 pounds. Macallan M The Scottish whiskey distillery Macallan, founded in 1824, chose seven exquisite whisky for the creation of the Macallan M, which were distilled between 1940 and 1990 and stored in sherry barrels. In order to present this great whiskey appropriately, Lalique produced its own glass decanter in elaborate work. The highest price to date for the Macallan M was achieved at an auction in Hong Kong in 2014. An anonymous collector bought the bottle for 465,000 euros.
