To compare the value of currencies, we used US Dollar as base currency. The strongest currency is defined here as the currency that is most expensive compared to the dollar. That is, the currency for which you get the least amount per 1 dollar. When you measure the value of one currency against another, you are simultaneously buying one currency and selling another, which is known as forex trading. All currencies on the list of the strongest currencies are quoted against one dollar.

Swiss Franc

The Swiss franc is the currency of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. For 1 dollar you can buy about 0.93 Swiss francs, which makes the Swiss franc more valuable than the dollar and thus ranks in top 10. However, this is not surprising since Switzerland is one of the most stable and prosperous countries in the world.

The Omani Rial is the national currency of Oman. Unlike most basic currencies, the Omani rial is divided into 1,000 smaller currency fractions called baisa. The Omani rial appreciated rapidly after its introduction due to the success oil exports and its peg to the dollar.

U.S. Dollar

The US Dollar is the currency of the United States and some other countries. It is the world’s main reserve currency and is held by most of the world’s central banks. Due to its widespread use, the US dollar also accounts for around 88 % of daily transactions in the foreign exchange. Despite its importance, it only comes in top 10.
