We went and looked for the most expensive beers in the world. How much can you spend on beer and why?
Probably the most expensive beer in the world that was ever sold and that only exists once was a Löwenbräu Lager. The proud price was 11,000 euros. The bottle was found by firefighter L. Smith and was from Lakehurst. It was bottled in 1937 and belonged to Hindenburg, who crashed over America. Smith found 6 bottles of this beer at the time, but the location of the other 5 bottles is unclear. Of course, the beers are no longer drinkable today and only enjoy collector’s value. But now to the list of purchasable, most expensive beers in the world.
The most expensive beer in the world comes from the small town of Peruwelz in Belgium from the Caulier brewery. The most expensive beer in the world has the sonorous name Vieille Bon Sexours Ale. The fine drop is available in England and only in selected places. A 12 lt bottle of Vieille Bon Sexours Ale is priced at around 900 dollars and a pint of around 0.5 lt of this brand is priced at around 50 dollars. The brewery was founded by Charles Caulier. However, the beer was not brewed in-house, only beer was traded. In the meantime, since 1980, their own fermented beers have been marketed in the third generation. The fermented beers go under the name La Vieille Bon-Secours. Caulier started with its own brewing facility in the 90’s and the first locally brewed beer was presented.
What Kind Of Beer Is That?
The Vieille Bon Sexours Ale has been produced since 1995. The most expensive beer in the world takes time to mature. It is aged for 10 years before being bottled.
Who holds the world record for the most expensive beer bottle in the world? That happened at an auction in the UK. An old bottle of Löwenbräu lager was sold there for 11,000 euros and changed hands. The bottle was found by firefighter Smith as we mentioned above, who brought the bottle to safety. Smith originally found 6 bottles of the beer. However, nothing is known about the whereabouts of the other 5 bottles. The contents of the bottles are no longer edible.
